On May 21, we celebrate the European Natura 2000 Day – a holiday for particularly valuable natural areas protected due to their biodiversity.
This is not only an important date for ecologists or EU institutions – it is also an opportunity to look more attentively at the world around us. Why is this day special for us? Because our Resort is located precisely within the Natura 2000 area.
What is Natura 2000?
It is a European network of protected areas whose main goal is to protect the most valuable species of plants, animals, and natural habitats. Importantly – it is not a strict nature reserve. Natura 2000 assumes that nature conservation can and should go hand in hand with everyday human life, sustainable tourism, and even economic activity – as long as it does not harm the environment.
Why is our area protected?
The vicinity of Wisła is not only picturesque landscapes and clean air. Above all, it is a unique mosaic of mountain habitats, beech-spruce forests, and clean streams that provide a home for many protected species.
Within the Natura 2000 area "Beskid Śląski," the following are protected, among others:
- Ural owl – a very rare species of owl whose call can be heard at night in the local forests.
- Mountain newt and spotted salamander – small, inconspicuous but fascinating amphibians living in clean mountain streams.
- Three-toothed gentian and globe-flower – beautiful, protected plant species that bloom in summer on mountain meadows.
Walking along our trails, it is worth stopping for a moment, looking down at your feet, listening to the sounds of the forest. Here, each season reveals a different aspect of this subtle natural puzzle.
Hospitality in harmony with nature
We believe the greatest privilege is to be close to nature. That is why it is so important for us to be a part of it – with mindfulness and respect.
We use environmentally friendly solutions, promote locality, and encourage our Guests to be calm and mindful in nature – whether during a morning walk or an afternoon rest on the terrace.
Let’s celebrate together – every day
European Natura 2000 Day is not just a date in the calendar. It is a reminder to look broader and deeper, that every tree, every bird's song; everything matters.
And that our task – as hosts of this place and its guests – is not only to draw joy and solace from nature but also to care for it as best as we can.
We invite you to Vislow – a place that lives in the rhythm of nature. Not only on May 21 but throughout the year.
