Ochorowiczówka - Museum of Magical Realism
The Museum of Magical Realism was opened on April 26, 2017. Over 300 paintings, sculptures, and graphics by leading Polish surrealist artists, as well as a chamber dedicated to Julian Ochorowicz – all this art and history enthusiasts will find in the restored "Ochorowiczówka" building in Wisła. The Museum of Magical Realism is the largest institution of its kind in Europe and makes Wisła an important place on the cultural map not only of Poland but of the entire Old Continent.
From history: Julian Ochorowicz was a scientist, one of the greatest intellectuals at the turn of the century. He studied the human interior, but above all, he was an inventor and a pioneer of the microphone, speaker, telephone, and television. In 1899, he came to Wisła and began building summer houses. Renting or selling them was meant to fund his further research, primarily in the field of psychology. This is how "Zofiówka", "Sokół", "Maja" as well as "Placówka"—named in honor of Ochorowicz's friend, Bolesław Prus—came to be. During this time, the "Wanda" villa was also built, which Julian Ochorowicz gifted to his cousin, the well-known Warsaw actress Wanda Barszczewska.
Of all the buildings constructed by Julian in Wisła, only "Ochorowiczówka" remains today, from which he moved out in 1912.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM,
Distance from Vislow Resort: 3.9 km on foot / 4.6 km by car
